Ever think that maybe there was an artistic intent behind that? I mean, I don't know much about the artistic merits of I, Robot or I Am Legend, so maybe these are bad examples, but it can be a powerful tool to change the race of a main character in a stage or screen adaptation of literature. I saw a production of Prometheus Bound
not too long ago, where the only set onstage was 3 gigantic chains suspended from the ceiling, binding Prometheus--who was played by a black man, and it worked wonderfully.
