Yep, it was indeed a medley (not a melody
). Personally, I thought it was lame. The whole of In The Name of God would have been far more satisfying.
This was a much less impressive show than when I saw them on the Train of Thought tour back in 2004. Mostly because they did so much instrumental widdling this time. Last time, in a three hour show, where there's the time to self-indulge a bit, they played lots of proper songs.
I think last night James LaBrie spent less than half the set actually on stage.
They were all on top form, but I wanted more songs in place of the extended soloing. You can't sing along to a keyboard solo.
Very pleased to get As I Am, though. They've not been playing that every night, so we were lucky.
