This is like Dio opening for Hammerfall or something
The singer of SOIA gave a little speech about how good friends they are with AFI, and how, despite how big AFI have become, they "still give a shit about guys like us." Davey also talked a lot about what legends SOIA were. So, it doesn't matter which band you like better, they still have a lot of mutal respect and admiration for each other. Plus, when it comes to who opens for who, that's all business. What's going to make sponsors and everyone else involved more money: AFI as headliner, or SOIA? I mean, that's not necessarily how it should be, and when you get down to it it's kind of dumb, but that's just the way it is. I'm sure if you talked to AFI, they would be just as happy if the situation were reversed. Besides, I'd bet that Sick of it All made a LOT of new fans last night, and in the end that's all they're trying to do.
