Pagan Knights -- New York, NY -- March 29th, 2009
I got there late and I was surprised to see Suidakra opening. i figured the new band, Alestorm, would open, unless they've been switching it up. Suidakra also said it was their last date on this tour (3/30 being the last for Tyr, and prob'ly Alestorm). Assuming it was their first number, i walked in on something, Conloach or Scathach (i'll try to pin it down later), then
Isle of Skye
Dead Man's Reel
The IXth Legion
Alestorm, which reminds me of Manowar, decided to go shirtless, except for the lead guitarist who was short and stocky kept his shirt on. Despite the keytar, good stage presence.
Over the Seas
Nancy the Tavern Wench ("a gay fuckin' ballad!" per the singer)
Wenches & Mead
Set Sail & Conquer
Keelhauled (from the new upcoming album; paraphrased: a good old fashioned hoedown)
Captain Morgan's Revenge
Wolves of the Sea
Tyr were exceptional. Each song had great intro patter.
Hold the Heathen Hammer High (from the new upcoming album)
Hail to the Hammer
The Wild Rover - a freeforall erupted onstage with Alestorm, Suidakra, and various crew singing altogether
Wings of Time
Ramund un Hinge
MY sincerest apologies if something is spelled wrong because i used the nearest approximation and not the actual character
Saw this in Allentown Saturday - Tyr was very good, but the venue had so many openers that I just wanted the night to end so I could go home.
Tyr were fantastic, I loved the little intros to each song.
"This song is very pagan, very traditional. It is about important values: Odin, helping those in need, and brutally slaying the greedy. This is Gatu Rima!"
"It is importan to hold one's heritage and mythology to heart because that is your history. But to say that one faith holds the absolute truth is, in my opinion, idiocy. Thus, religion is bullshit. This is Wings of Time!"
I liked the intro that was about how the Scottish were defeated in 1620something in Norway...
I believe it was Regin not Sinklars. school me if i am wrong...
then at the end, "and that's how the Scottish got their asses kicked"
Saw this in Allentown.

Same here - Tyr was awesome, way too many bands played though
Yeah, they always do though, I just sat around and had a few beers
I find it hilarious that my band was actually supposed to play the Allentown show but we got screwed out of it for no reason so that the venue could pack on the shitty inappropriate support bands who just promised to sell tickets... and for ONCE there were actually people at the show, unlike 90% of all the gigs we play there.
