Cloverfield

looks promising

i just hope the monster turns out to be more unique than a godzilla clone :eyes:

Yeah, I really want to see this, looks pretty good, and I like the it's being filmed.

powerslave_85 01-18-2008 09:42 AM

Saw it last night. It was great, the monster ruled, and the way it was shot was awesome. Thumbs up all around.

ChildrenofSodom 01-18-2008 10:56 AM

The only thing keeping me from seeing this is that the director got the idea after seeing King Kong and Godzilla dolls at a store in Japan.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers but i gotta ask, are the rumors about the monster being cthulu true, cause that would kick major ass

powerslave_85 01-18-2008 01:30 PM

No, it's not Cthulu. It's a totally new creature.

DethMaiden 01-18-2008 02:28 PM

Dude, if they made a movie with Cthulhu, I would be the first in line to see it.

I dont know. It just seems like, even though there hasnt been one in many years, there are already a good number of giant monster movies out there. And if he got the inspiration from Godzilla and King Kong, I think it would be difficult to move away from the typical giant-monster-ravages-big-city format. I havent seen it, so he may have done a nice job.

powerslave_85 01-18-2008 03:12 PM

This is totally different from any other monster movie, trust me. There's no long scenes of generals trying to figure out how to stop it or anything like that. It's all "found footage" taken from the camera of an ordinary person who was there. You only know as much as the characters do, and once the action starts it doesn't let up. Believe me, it's worth seeing.
