THE ROMANTICS Sue Activision Over Guitar Hero 80s Cover

The Romantics feel the cover of "What I Like About You" is a little too good, "virtually indistinguishable from the authentic version." They want the game (Guitar Hero - Rock The 80s) pulled from the shelves and unspecified damages.

This has NOTHING to do with the $100 million plus Activation has raked in their coffers with Guitar Hero III, right? How long has Guitar Hero 80's been out? :money:

As long as it's a cover does it matter how "indistinguishable" it sounds? I mean is it written in the law that you're only allowed to cover a song as long as it sucks? I can imagine that this will just get laughed out of court.

Covering doesn't you can totally impersonate the original to the point that it will confuse the marketplace. Past suits mention across many articles involve the use of the soundalikes in tv commercials, not use in a video game. The Romantics aren't claiming copyright because Activision did secure the appropriate rights for a cover. The band is claiming that the impersonation is harming the band and wants satisfaction.

That song was hard and I hated it.

Yeah sad thing is, Holy diver is easier. The fast chord changes in this just make it really hard. On expert i can only get 3 songs.

And fuck them. No one cares about them anyway. Seriously
