ALICE IN CHAINS Begins Writing New Material

ALICE IN CHAINS has commenced the songwriting process for a new studio album. In an online posting by The Baldy whose job is "to travel the world with ALICE IN CHAINS and send photos, videos and blog entries back to [the webmasters] at AliceInChains.com" he writes, "I've been [in Los Angeles] for five days, sat through three rehearsals and one demo recording session, listened to several other demos, and I can happily report that the new stuff is kicking my ass right out of my pants. Remember that these songs are still only in the early stages of being written too. Just in the time I've been here, the guys have taken a riff and worked on it and expanded it and added layers to it, and now it's practically a full-fledged song."

I'm not even an Alice In Chains fan, but I think this is blasphemy.

But if you guys are ok with it...:eyes:

Alice in Chains, should they have made more records, would undoubtedly be my favorite band. With each successive album I can taste their demise, and it's an utter shame, because they had the potential to be something truly great, and stopped just shy of achieving this. Each of the five albums they made are classics in the truest sense of the term.

R.I.P. Layne :light:

Wait, if you wish they'd have made more albums, yet you could tell they were going downhill with each release, by that logic, wouldn't they have seriously sucked if they were still around today (with Layne that is)?:eyes:

No, I didn't say they were going downhill. I said that I could feel Layne deteriorating. The music was just as amazing, and Layne's vocal performances were genuinely tortured; the truest, blackest, most depressing shit imaginable. However, his addictions overcame him as everyone could probably tell along the way.
