Metal Church -- New York, NY -- January 28th, 2007

Well, I'm almost positive Overkill played the same thing as the Hollywood show and I didn't grab their setlist anyway, but I did manage to get my hands on the Metal Church list:

Light in the Dark
Fake Healer
Ton of Bricks
Start the Fire
Mirror of Lies
Gods of Wrath
Beyond the Black
Metal Church

They had to cut Badlands due to time constraints. But yeah, they were great, even with only one original member (and is Kurt even an original original member? I'm not sure). Their new singer is one of the main things I didn't like about the new album, but he sounded really good live.

Also, Belladonna played just before Metal Church, and he really got fucked over for time. He only got to play three songs (setlist originally had 6). I caught that list too, but once I got the MC set as well I felt greedy and gave the Belladonna list to a cute girl next to me who was clearly a bigger fan than I. I'm fairly sure this what he played (I don't know his solo project stuff):

Hardlife
Live Up to You
Indians (Anthrax)

There was one other song from his solo project that was cut (or maybe two, I don't quite remember), and he was also supposed to play Caught in a Mosh and Medusa as well. I was not happy about missing those, even though I'm not a huge Anthrax fan. :hmm: Oh, and apparently he usually drums and sings--tonight he just sang. I got a drumstick from whoever their drummer was.

One more thing, Overkill slayed as usual. It was so nice to have a full set again after the rather disappointing Gigantour appearance. This was my 5th time seeing them

Yeah, I was disappointed to not hear Watch the Children Pray and Highway Star, but I've never even heard Weight of the World, so I didn't miss those tracks. They played Beyond the Black though, look again ;)

Beyond the Black is one of the greatest damn metal songs. Ever.

Why does this thread have Metal Church in the name if Overkill headlined? :eyes:

sixhundredand66 01-31-2007 09:53 AM

was BB King's "no moshing" policy still in effect for this show?

Because I didn't get the Overkill set.
