Black Label Society -- Birmingham, AL -- May 2nd, 2014
Zakk Wylde and his manager came into the hotel bar that I work at. I pretended like I didn't know who they were because I'm sure he gets so many fans that ask him too many questions. So instead we talked about NFL and different types of steaks.
As he was about to leave I told him I was a fan and got a picture. He was really nice about it, and his manager asked what my name was. I told him and he said he was going to put me +1 on the guest list. Needless to say I was super excited. I was already having a great day because Rob Zombie was staying at the hotel, grabbed a picture with him, and apparently earlier that day I served Eric Clapton food without realizing who it was haha.
Anyways... the show was sold out of 1,300 and I didn't have a ticket so I was just hoping the manager remembered to write my name down. I didn't want to risk it so we actually went passed the willcall booth, grabbed a wrist band, and was able to walk right in!
Butcher Babies were horrible as usual. Took time to open up a tab and grab a few beers. 4/10
Devil You Know were great. Reminded me a lot of Lamb of God if they had clean vocals in some of their songs. Would love to see them again. 8/10
Down was actually the main reason why I wanted to go to this show. They only got 40 minutes but they sounded spot on. They said they were going to be back and Pepper commented on my vest after the show was over. Cool guy. 9/10
BLS got an hour and a half. They sounded great as well and not too many 20 minute long guitar solos haha. 8/10
Down shirts were $30 and BLS shirts were $35.
Devil You Know
Seven Years Alone
Eyes of the South
Pillars of Eternity
Sweet Home Alabama (partial cover)

How is this BLS set correct? It's more than 14 songs.
That's awesome about them coming in to your work. Did you go to the Rob Zombie show too?
Dude I wanna serve Clapton food lol. Awesome story though man, that was super cool of Zakk and his manager to hook you up like that!

No, I had to work late that night but I did the morning shift for BLS.

Basically the same old set with the new songs inserted, but I'm glad this is still in there.
thanks for the review- catching this tonight!
I still hate that zakk refuses to play anything off of 1919 or stronger than death :/
I love BLS but the new album is the worst thing they've ever done by a mile. Set is just not good. But yes good Rose Petaled Garden stuck around.

No. No one can have heard Shot To Hell, or the stupid vocal effects on Order of The Black, and think Catacombs is worse. It's far better than both (which is a shame in a sense, because Order had some good songs).

Shot to Hell is 2nd worst for me. I really liked Order. This seemed like the most boring album I've ever heard from them.
