Yes -- Vancouver, British Columbia -- March 20th, 2014
Well, this group needs NO introduction to most of you here. The legendary prog rockers YES we're in Vancouver last night. This was the second night of their Canadian tour. Performing THREE full length albums on the tour as previously played during an earlier 2013 tour.
A)Close To The Edge
B)Going For The One
C)The YES Album
Lineup was as follows:
Chris Squire - Bass
Steve Howe - Guitar
Alan White - Battery
Geoff Downes - Key's
Jon Davison - Vocals
The band sounded very tight, new vocalist Jon Davison sounds like a young Jon Anderson with a few touches of his own voice thrown in for good measure. As for the rest of the group, it should come as no surprise that they still give it their all.
Hearing the three albums in a row was quite the spectacle to say the least. Sorry for such a short review, here's the setlist:
Close To The Edge:
-Close To The Edge
-And You and I
Going For The One:
-Going For The One
-Turn Of The Century
The YES Album:
-Yours Is No Disgrace
-I've Seen All Good People
You sir get brownie points in my book for posting a MST3K clip;)
Good review, I don't care if isn't metal, playing 3 albums in a row is noteworthy; which album did you enjoy the most being played live?
Close To The Edge I think was the highlight of the night. Title track just blew me away. YES Album was a very close second and only a notch down from Close To The Edge. Due to a couple parts being played slower than on the album versions (I've Seen All Good People)
I'm going to see them twice in two weeks (April 4th and 5th) and I can't wait. I'm also seeing Jon Anderson solo on April 3rd. I will get my YES fill that weekend. Thanks for the review. It really gets me excited for my shows.
Wow, that is pretty awesome.
