Kalfitegrdan's Top 25 Video Games

WildandYoung's thread got me thinking about what I'd include in my own list, so I figured I'd make a thread of it. I'm only doing one entry per series, but will probably make note of other games in a series that I enjoyed.

Honorable Mentions

- Brutal Legend (Xbox 360)

Fun game even though it really couldn't make up its mind what genre it was. Amazing soundtrack, of course. The integration of metal into the game world was really cool. I'm still pissed at my friend for deleting my game file that had 100%. :flame:

-Gears of War (Xbox 360)

Probably the first game for the 360 that I was hyped for. Also, one of the only third person shooters I thoroughly enjoy. I liked that Gears of War was more than just a run-and-gun game. There was an elements of strategy whether it was luring a near indestructible Beserker out into the open or navigating lighted areas to avoid the certain death that darkness brought. Plus, the sight of your enemy being chainsawed in half was satisfying as all hell. The addition of horde mode in the second one was amazing too, but overall I have fonder memories with the original.

-Madness Interactive (Browser based)

Along with Mini Putt and Bullet Time Fighting, this is the reason I have no idea to use AutoCAD. I wasted an entire semester Freshman year of high school playing this in Tech Ed class. Madness Interactive is a flash game that is basically an addicting 2D sidescroller of stick figure murder madness. The story mode is short, but entertaining. The real fun is the experiment mode where you can control the flow of enemies, spawn weapons, use cheats and just fuck around to your heart's desire. I can't really explain it very well, so just go play it here or the Halo version.

-Fallout 3 (Xbox 360)

Fallout combines two things I love: A post-apocalyptic theme and an open world. Unfortunately, I lack the focus required for these type of games and end up wandering around aimlessly which is still loads of fun. I can't even begin to list all the fun shit to do in this game, but anything involving mini-nukes is sure to be a blast. In my opinion, this one is far superior to its successor, New Vegas.

Tekken 3 (Playstation)

This was the first fighting game I ever played when I was probably about 7. I honestly can't remember too much about the game, but I remember playing it nonstop as a kid. This had some of the most unique characters in any fighting game with whatever the fuck Yoshimitsu is, the Jackie Chan ripoff (Law) and a goddamn giant panda to name a few. Eddy Gordo was always my shit though with his crazy half-break dancing fighting style.

25.) Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction (Xbox)

The game that really got me into open world, "sandbox" games. Just running around Korea, blowing up whatever the fuck you wanted was extremely fun, but the difficulty of keeping yourself neutral/in good favors with all the factions was the real challenge of the game that kept me playing. This was the first (and only?) game I ever experienced where the infinite ammo cheat meant that you could actual fire a continuous stream of ammo without reloading. Plus, Han Solo AND Indiana Jones as playable characters?! You can't beat that.

Jebus Christ I was going to start my list in a few weeks. But now I'd seem like nothing more than a rip off artist. I'll wait a few months.

Will be keeping up with this thread, looking forward to see your favorites!

Same here. I will do mine if my games are not represented here.;)

ffs i was thinking about making one too! lol oh well,

some cool picks so far, Madness is a shit load of fun, and so is Mercenaries, but seeing Fallout 3 so low makes me sad
never played more then minutes of GoW and have never played Brutal Legend, though I do feel like I kind of have to being a fan of video games and heavy metal lol

I never commented on the Honorable Mentions: Brutal Legend was great, anything I had to say about that game I said in Wild&Youngs thread. I never played Gears of War but wanted to, I don't have X-Box. I'll always remember that epic Mad World commercial. Tekken 3; was that the one on Playstation One? If it was, I loved that game too. And Fallout 3, great game. And yeah the New Vegas sequel had potential but was too bugged out for me to have fun. The Dunwich House in Fallout 3 (if that was what it was even called, that house in the far South-West corner) was fucking awesome. I just thought that game needed more. I plowed through it in about thirty-five hours and thought another twenty hours or so would've made it a little more fulfilling. But it got me through my last long spat of unemployment.

Tekken 3, Brutal Legend and Gears of War. YES.
Tekken 3; was that the one on Playstation One? If it was, I loved that game too.
It was one of the ones on PS1. Tekken 1-3 were all released on PS1.

24.) ESPN NFL 2K5 (Xbox)

The ESPN series of sports games were the be all end all of sports games for me and this one was the best. The gameplay was smooth and less in-depth than Madden. I like that. I don't need 300 different plays just to figure out that I'm gonna run a Hail Mary every time. Unfortunately, EA bought the exclusive rights for games from the NFL after this was released for its Madden series, officially killing this series.

Other notable titles in this series: ESPN NFL 2K4, EPSN MLB 2K4, ESPN NBA 2K5.

Man, I think I'm gonna unofficially add another honorable mention. Minecraft definitely deserves to be on this list somewhere.

23.) Mass Effect 3 (Xbox 360)

Oh man, this is gonna piss people off! Yeah, yeah, it's too low, whatever, but the reason is because it's only here at all because of the multiplayer. Mass Effect's story is too slow paced and takes too long to get going for my tastes. :ass: Apologies to AdamClark.

Anyway, the multiplayer is insanely fun. I recall many a night with my roommate and a couple of our friends cramming four TVs in our living room and playing for like twelve hours straight. Despite EA's constant buffoonery and the number of bugs, it's a great experience and I'm glad that they kept adding more and more DLC maps and characters. The Human Vanguard is one of the most fun characters to play in almost any game.
