Metal Church -- Hollywood, CA -- February 16th, 2014

Kickass show from Metal Church once again. Mostly the same set as the last LA show, but with three new songs added and Mirror of Lies subbed in for Hitman. Very solid turnout, though the crowd enthusiasm went up and down. Basically no one cared for any of the newer songs other than Mirror of Lies, which they only cheered for after the song ended. Performance-wise, the band was on fire once again, and the sound was fantastic (though Kurdt's guitar was sometimes not too audible). Out of the new songs, Scream sounded the best.

01. Ton of Bricks
02. Start the Fire
03. Generation Nothing
04. A Light in the Dark
05. Scream
06. Fake Healer
07. Badlands
08. Gods of Wrath
09. Dead City
10. Mirror of Lies
11. Watch the Children Pray
12. Beyond the Black
13. Metal Church
Encore
14. Highway Star
15. The Human Factor

Can't encourage everyone enough to see this band, they seriously kill live. They just need to add Date with Poverty and I'll be on cloud flipping nine.

I am planning on attending the Memphis show. I didn't know they were even still around, had the first two albums when i was in high school, and lost interest after that. Never thought I would have the chance to see them.

Very cool! The lineup today only has one member from that David Wayne era, guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof. This lineup totally destroys live though, and they really do justice to all the eras of Metal Church.

yeah i had checked all that out. total concert junkie here. as for live, that's what i keep reading and that's the reason i am going to this show. thanks for the info.

That's so weird. I feel like Canada in general has been a huge supporter of traditional/power metal over the last few years. I'd bet that Metal Church would do very well with some Canada dates. Probably a hell of a lot better than they're gonna do with the bar they're playing in Concord, which is basically the middle of nowhere in the bay area.

I agree, they'd probably kill here. They did book a date here, but it was cancelled after they and the promoter had announced it. Nobody even acknowledged it was cancelled either, they just added a US date on the same day instead.

I'm guessing it's because they weren't able to get into the country, but it's too bad because it would have been a great show.

Seeing this tour Sunday night. Looking forward to finally seeing them. One band from my youth I never got to see.
