Mayhem -- Sydney, Australia -- January 11th, 2014
One of the first shows for the Mayhem 30th anniversary tour. It was a nice surprise that the promoter announced Watain as direct support for Mayhem only a couple of months before the show. Nocturnal Graves from Melbourne were the opener for the night.
Watain got an hour and played a set predominantly from The Wild Hunt. Would have loved to have seen Waters of Ain, but I'm not one to complain.
Mayhem crushed it for about 75 minutes, and I was surprised that they didn't play for longer or even play an encore. You kinda know the set is done with these guys when they get going with Pure Fucking Armageddon.
Stage production for both Watain and Mayhem was minimal, having seen them both previously headline at open air festivals I was expecting a little more. Mayhem had some banners up on stage, but they could have maybe freighted in some unholy altar to desecrate or at least told Necrobutcher and Charles not to wear skin tight t-shirts and denim. Not very trve metal.
Storm of the Antichrist
On Horns Impaled
Buried by Time and Dust
A Time to Die
Symbols of Bloodswords
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Pure Fucking Armageddon
Need to see Mayhem again. Looks look a fairly standard set, but do they usually play Symbols of Bloodswords? Don't recall seeing that a lot.

Last two US tours (09 and 11) I know they didn't play it.
I wonder if they were still using their "25 Year Anniversary" banner
I saw them on that tour where they debuted it, then they used it again the second time I saw them (which was a couple years after :D )
Nah, they definitely had the new banners for the 30 years.
Other than the banners there was no other stage production for Mayhem!
