Power Trip -- Tampa, FL -- December 19th, 2013
Venue - Epic Problem
We arrived at the venue about an hour or so before the first band were to start. I was going to be interviewing Riley from Power Trip, and it turns out they were late to the venue(they had their guest list with them), so my friend and I sat outside the venue for the three local bands that played waiting for them to arrive.
After everything got situated we went inside just in time for Mammoth Grinder, who were probably the loudest band I've ever seen a venue this size. Mammoth Grinder got it going right off the bat, it was circle pits galore. Vocalist/guitarist Chris Ulsh put on an absolutely phenomenal performance, I can't even fathom how someone can do that style of vocals while playing guitar like that at the same time. Mammoth Grinder were arguably the best band of the night, I'm just hoping they come back and can play a longer set.
Up next were the awesome Iron Reagan. I would honestly be perfectly fine with Municipal Waste breaking up so Tony and Phil could do Iron Reagan full time. Iron Reagan are just a fireball of pure energy live, Tony Foresta never once stopped moving, except during their instrumental song. Iron Reagan got the pits going again, but what pissed me off was that a good 25%of the crowd sat outside during their set, oh well, their loss. Another thing I should note is how insanely hilarious (and to some, very offensive) Tony Foresta was, he was straight saying "Fuck Jesus, I'm sorry to disappoint you guys, but he ain't comin'!". But the best part of IR's set was definitely when they busted out with a cover of Cannibal Corpse's "Skull Full O Maggots", I couldn't believe that Phil was able to do vocals like that. Overall Iron Reagan were definitely the most energetic band of the night.
No one in the venue were even remotely ready for what Power Trip were going to bring up next. Power Trip are perhaps the best crossover band to come out in recent years, and this was their first show in FL ever, Riley told me after the show that he wasn't expecting the crowd to know any of the words, and that it was one of the best shows he's ever played. The crowd during their set was probably the most violent, intense and chaotic crowd I've ever been a part of, the circle pits and moshing never stopped even for a second.
Overall, this was easily one of the 5 best concerts (out of 45) I've attended this year.

Tony was flat out a cool dude, we talked with him and Riley from PT for a good half hour, and Tony was cool enough to sign my "Fatal Feast" vinyl and Iron Reagan booklet. Phil took off right after PT's set though.
Iron Reagan should never stop.
Here's my last interview of 2013 with Riley Gale from Power Trip. I stumbled a little with my first question, but other than that it went pretty well.

And Phil does Cannabis Corpse on the side, so the CC cover is not a stretch at all.

Ah I had forgotten about that.
Sweet I can't wait to catch this in Birmingham tomorrow!!! I wish Iron Reagan were going to be there though.
