What a huge difference. Not setlist wise, but from the atmosphere, and turn out. Tonights 2nd show felt much much different compared to last nights event which kicked off Slayers two night gig at the Hollywood Palladium. I enjoyed last nights show a little more than tonights 2nd show. It felt more "intimate" if you wanna call it that. This was Slayers 2nd night playing at the Hollywood Palladium during a two night gig that kicked off last night which I had also attended with fellow metal seltist member Christopher. Last nights show had probably less than 600 people and the venue felt somewhat "empty" when you compare it to tonights sold out event. Tonights show was sold out to its maximum capacity of 3,700. Serious shit!! 3,700 compared to a turn out of less than 500 is a huge difference! One thing that stood out to me while I was at tonights show was how "empty" it felt on Sundays show. They could have easily moved the first show to a smaller venue like the House of Blues or something, especially with a turn out that small for a such big band like Slayer. Truth be told; the front center floor was the only place that was packed for Sunday nights gig. There was just a little pit going on in the center while the left side and right side of the venue was just a big empty hall. Tonights show was much much different! Tonights show was packed to the bone, you couldn't breath anywhere, the entire floor was just one giant circle pit of hell. Chaos everywhere! It was fucking crazy. The highlight of tonights show was hearing Postmortem, At Dawn They Sleep, and Payback. My mind fucking exploded once the opening notes for Payback started. I just lost it!!! Belching out the lyrics word for word like a mad man! After all these years they still put on a hell of a show! It's a bummer that two original members are gone but this new line up of Slayer definitely delivered the goods, and I would be down as hell to see them again when ever they come through again in my part of town. Even though the show was packed to the very bone it still didn't' stop me from getting to the very front center next to the man himself, Tom Araya. By the time the "Hanneman" banter was put down and the intro to South of Heaven started, I was right up front next to Toms Fat bearded Santa Clause Satan looking fat ass! It was fucking amazing! I LOVE YOU TOM. Sure, I could barely breathe and feel my body about to pass out from lack of oxygen, but like Tom said at last nights event; "if you can't stand the heat, get outta the fucking kitchen". I had a fucking blast, but I still prefer last nights show over tonights. Simply for the atmosphere, turn out, the somewhat 'intimate" feeling due to the poor turn out, and the SUPER OLD SCHOOL SETLIST. In the end Slayer kicked my ass two nights in a row, and they proved to me once again why they are my favorite band in the world. I am tired as shit and must revitalize my energy for Sepultura on friday. GUH NIGHT FOLKS.

Tonight officially marks my 8th time seeing Slayer, and my 2nd time seeing POINT FIVE-LAYER. Good times, indeed.

Neato that they did Strike of the Beast again. I wonder if it'll actually stay in the set this time around or if it'll just be another one-off.

I'd love to hear them do the cover but hate that they do it. I'm so glad I sold my ticket for tonight.

Cool review, man. I just have a difference in opinion on their newer stuff. I have no problem with them playing a couple songs from WPB.

Have a crew taking a road trip to the Lowell show next month. Can't wait.

That is one hell of a great run of kickass songs back to back!!! :rocker:

Interesting to see they have been mixing the sets up through the first few shows. I wonder if this will continue as they rarely ever do. Cant wait for Montreal in a few weeks!!! Half of Slayer is still better than No Slayer!!!
