Happy Birthday Chaos A.D.

Wow, twenty years old today. That makes me feel fucking old. Happy birthday to the first underground metal album I ever bought.

Chaos A.D. was the first Sepultura album that I heard. The first time I heard "REFUSE/RESIST" my jaw dropped to the floor. The groovy heavy riffs blew me away, and more importantly; Max Cavaleras angry fucking vocals just grabbed me by the balls and didn't let go. I was addicted to CHAOS A.D for a good portion of my sophomore year of high school(2004/2005). I thought it was the greatest thing ever made, and i loved every track except for "Territory". That all changed once I heard Beneath the Remains, Arise, and Bestial Devastation..

Still, it's a good album, and BIOTECH IS GODZILLA is probably in my ten favorite sepultura songs ever. :rocker:

My favorite Sepultura album. So goddam good. Refuse/Resist is still one of the best openers to a metal album.

I can't remember the last time I listened to Chaos AD, but it was definitely one of the more important albums for me in terms of getting into heavier, more extreme metal. I think I'll throw it on tomorrow!

I think anyone who was listening to metal in the early 1990s will agree that it was the gateway album that brought them from more mainstream stuff like Metallica and Megadeth and the more extreme stuff like Cannibal Corpse.

This! All of this! Sepultura and Slayer were pretty much the two bands that "opened" the gateway for me, so to speak. They will always remain forever as my two favorite Metal bands of all time, and NO other bands will ever come even close to the impact that they made on my life during my early years in middle school/high school(Only other bands that come close are maybe Priest and Sabbath). :hmm:
