Dying Fetus -- Montreal, Quebec -- August 25th, 2013
Besides being at the border for almost 40 minutes, this was a good night. Got to the venue at ~8, and grabbed a couple beers and chilled downstairs. Foufounes Electriques has La Fin Du Monde and Maudite, can't go wrong there!!
Once I went upstairs, a local band Bookakee was playing. They're a very bizarre Progressive Death Metal with lot's of theatrics. Face paint, a dude in a King Kong suit during the last song using bananas as his penis, pretending to masturbate, then throwing them into the crowd. GWAR-type stuff. They definitely weren't my style, but they were entertaining to watch, and were talented musicians. 6.5/10
Popular Montreal deathcore band Depths of Hatred was the last support. They weren't bad. A mix of straight up death metal and hardcore. Crowd enjoyed them. 6/10
Dying Fetus hit the stage shortly after 11, and this was the set:
We Are Your Enemy
From Womb to Waste (with intro over PA)
Your Treachery Will Die With You
Beaten Into Submission

Killing on Adrenaline
Praise the Lord (Opium of the Masses)
Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog

Was a disappointingly short set, only 12 songs, clocking in around 55 minutes. Was still a great show. Wasn't the best I've seen Dying Fetus, but again, solid. The crowd was into it (crowd was big, Foufs was pretty packed) and as always, the sound quality on Fouf's PA was outstanding. My only complaint was that Sean's mic was a little low in the mix. The set itself wasn't a bad one. This was the 7th time I've seen DF, and got 3 songs I'd never seen them play before, We Are Your Enemy, The Blood of Power and Second Skin. The last 2 are among my favorites from Reign Supreme, so I was very happy to see them. Vids are attached, I had permission and filmed from the balcony.
Too bad this wasn't with Exhumed/Devourment.

That tour hasn't started yet. This wasn't an off-date, if that's what you meant.
Pretty short set, but I'm still stoked to see them on thursday!

Yup, it's the day after my birthday and on the day of a good friend of mine here in Vancouver. So we're going to rage.
