Alice in Chains -- Scranton, PA -- August 9th, 2013
Kickoff date for the 2013 Uproar Festival at the Toyota Pavilion in Scranton, which is a shame imo since all I care about seeing is AiC and they only have about 70 minutes. Don't care about Circa Survie, Coheed is horrible, and Jane's Addiction I find boring. First time at this venue and gotta say it's in a pretty sweet location. Took a little bit exiting the parking lot but it was better than leaving the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA. Despite the short set AiC was excellent. Love the new songs live just disappointed they only played those two again.

They should do Phantom Limb instead of Acid Bubble. That seems like a spot in the set where they could rotate a different song each night. AIC is the only reason i'm seeing this tomorrow. The lineup is just unappealing in everyway possible besides them. I'm not sure what the tour promoters were thinking when they put this together? Did they actually think that AIC and Jane's Addiction have similar fan bases? This is certainly just about the oddest co-headlining pair any of the touring American summer festivals have come up with so far. Both headliners can do well selling out the midsized venues on their own but not even together can they fill amphitheaters that fit 15,000-20,000. There just isn't enough crossover appeal with this lineup.

I love both songs but I agree. Phantom Limb is so good live and I've seen Acid Bubble plenty of times.

Once they tour on their own after Uproar is done they'll probably put more new stuff in. Usually with festival shows bands stick with the "best of" setlist and don't change too much of it around. I know Phantom Limb and Voices have been played a few times, so maybe they're still trying to work out what new stuff they want to do besides the two singles.

The absence of Grind makes me a sad panda. But other than that I like the setlist, since their radio hits are just as good as their deep album tracks a lot of the time.

Coheed is NOT horrible.

Meh. Needs moar Angry Chair.

How empty was the venue? I checked availability for Mansfield a few days ago and out of 20K possible capacity, about 3K had been sold. Pretty sad. I think this tour would've been a lot better had it have been held at Bank of America Pavilion sized venues.

The music is great. The vocals are more painful than an icepick to the dickhole.

hmmm, well I was hoping for Angry Chair and TDPDH, but maybe I'll wait until they do a full headlining tour of their own

I wonder if they will ever play Breath on a Window from the new album.

70 minutes seems criminally short for a headliner but I'm sure it was a good show anyways. I looked up the headlining sets from the first two Uproars (Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold x2, Three Days Grace) and they played around the same number of songs and I still remember it being a good time.

And as for poor attendance numbers... Let's just say I don't know anyone besides myself who listens to Jane's Addiction (and I don't even listen to them that much) and Alice in Chains a lot of people like but I don't think is anyone's favorite band.
