Baroness is actually my favorite band. Maybe I'll write about it later but you just can't fucking top them on top of their game, and it's incredible how good they are already after a brush with death barely a year ago. Long live, and hail.

I was at this show and it was amazing! I'm surprised someone posted it because there was only about 100 people there, if that (it was a small venue - I'd never been there before). For some reason I was thinking they also played Bullhead's Psalm or Bullhead's Lament, but after looking at other setlists from this tour, it doesn't look like either of those were regulars in the setlist, so they may not have played them. Either way this was a fantastic show and well worth it to see them play for almost 1 hour 45 minutes and only $20. Definitely go see these amazing musicians if you get the chance!

Deluxe is a cool room; I'd seen St. Vincent there before. If you weren't aware, there's also another, bigger room in that complex called the Egyptian Room. I've seen Anthrax and Sufjan Stevens there.

I still think Baroness were a bit ambitious in booking the Deluxe. On the other hand, there's not really a perfect venue for their size act. Vogue is a bit too large; Melody Inn and Indy's Jukebox are too small; Emerson Theater is too shitty. They were in a tough spot, but they really did make the best of it.

I can hear Aaron Stainthorpe crying from here.

Here's hoping that Baroness can keep the energy up with these long sets all the way into August, which'll be my best chance to see them this summer. :snivel:

Regardless, SO glad to see these guys rocking out this hard so soon after their brush with death. Fucking troopers they are. :fist:

How was the new drummer? I've seen videos of this cat playing with Trans Am and he seems like a fucking BEAST.

Only you can't tell why since he always is. :bouville:

He looks like a cross between current-day Peter Stormare and Die Hard-era Alan Rickman. But he was really fucking good, haha.
