Gojira -- Brooklyn, NY -- February 18th, 2013
I got there right at the end of Atlas Moth's set. If you're into post-doom (or at least that's what I got from the one song I saw), check them out.
Devin Townsend was next. He said (several times) that because he wasn't feeling 100%, he was going to have to replace a lot of the higher singing notes with stage banter. No complaint from me, mind you. Between his hipster jokes (bits on "lensless glasses," "Pabst Blue Ribbon," and "Irony") and "convincing [his] wife of 22 years that [his] disgusting penis was worth sitting on," never a dull moment passed throughout this set. Speaking of which:
Planet of the Apes
This was my 6th time seeing Gojira (5th for Devin). I've said it before, it's always an energetic show with these guys. Aside from Joe's voice sounding a little shot at a couple points, it was just as fun and crazy as it always is. I LOVE the new stage-setup. If you have yet to see it, there's a picture of it below the set. For a band that now has 5 practically classic albums, they chose some pretty good songs. Nothing from Terra Incognita, but I'll live. REALLY happy they put Wisdom Comes in. I have been fiending for that song since the first day I heard it.
Heaviest Matter of the Universe
Art of Dying
Toxic Garbage Island
Jam (Mario on vocals/guitars and Joe on Drums)
Gift of Guilt
So jealous. Had tix to the Irving Plaza show last week that was postponed due to the blizzard. Can't make the make up show tomorrow night, should have gotten tix to this one. Music Hall of Williamsburg is a way better venue as well... so upset!!!!:bouville:
Any merch look good?

At the Philly show over the weekend there was almost no Merch left
Such a great show. Got picks from Devin and Joe, setlists from Gojira and DTP, and drumsticks from all three bands. Also got to meet Ian (makethemsuffer12) and Bobby (bt1973 or whatever the numbers are); a big thanks to the latter for getting me into the gig!
