Bon Jovi -- Toronto, Ontario -- February 17th, 2013
Date: February 17th, 2013
Venue: the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario
I didn't go to this show but my wife did. She said it was really good. The crowd was pretty good she said, except during the new songs and they totally died. The album doesn't even come out for a month I think so no one knew what they were doing. And some of the people were really upset that they didn't do Runaway, I'll Be There For You or a lot of the other staples.
They're playing the exact same setlist every night, which is actually rare for them. Unless they're playing a second show in the same city. Then they're playing some totally different, deeper stuff. So she's excited for tonight (they're playing Toronto again). But twenty seven songs and two and a half hours is pretty good if you ask me. I don't really like Bon Jovi but he does put on a good show. And in past tours he's done a really good job of picking some rarer songs. Monday's set could be interesting.
1. You Give Love Bad Name
2. Lost Highway
3. Whole Lot of Leaving Going On
4. Because We Can
6. That's What The Water Made Me
7. Wild Is The Wind
8. It's My Life
9. What About Now
10. When We Were Beautiful
11. We Got It Going On
12. Keep The Faith
14. The Fighter
15. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
16. Army of One
17. We Weren't Born To Follow
18. What's Left of Me
19. Wanted Dead or Alive
20. Who Says You Can't Go Home?
21. Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen From Mars
22. Bad Medicine
23. Have A Nice Day
24. Born to Be My Baby
25. Living on a Prayer
26. I’ll Sleep When I'm Dead
27. I Love This Town
I'd flip a cop car if they didn't play "Runaway"
Well we all make fun of Bon Jovi, but it's like Black Sabbath not doing Paranoid. For a lot of people it was the first song they heard by him.
They played two nights in Montreal last week, and I'm pretty sure Runaway was played the second night. I don't like that song but the five or six times I've seen him I'll Be There For You was a song I actually liked.
And if you guys want to complain about high merch prices; t-shirts were $50, long-sleeve shirts were $90 and hoodies were $140.
I think "You Give Love A Bad Name" is an excellent opener. And "Runaway" is the first song I ever heard by them but it is not really a good song, especially when compared to the bands material on their next 3 records.
In my 30 years of going to shows I've never seen Bon Jovi live. Almost saw them in the 80's, when they had Cinderella as the opener, but I was dicked out of a spot in the car ride to Biloxi for the show. I've had a negative attitude towards them ever since, maybe rightly so, because they were so over-hyped and kinda considered a "girl's band". But now as an old man and veteran of probably thousands of shows I actually want to see them live now. I know this tour will eventually make it my way, as they seem to play in my area several times for each album and I will be in attendance.
I saw them on that tour with Cinderella, Bon Jovi was awesome back then. That was the only time I saw them as my interest in them faded, haven't been a fan for a long time. If I was still a fan, I would be pissed at that set. Good way to ram a bunch of new shit down peoples' throats, Jon. The only songs they ever play from SWW is those three hits, and New Jersey has to be their second biggest seller, only one fuckin' song from that. And the new album isn't even out yet, that makes it much worse.
