Led Zeppelin 2 -- Austin, TX -- January 18th, 2013
Hopefully someone will get some use/enjoyment out of this.
There's not a whole lot to say about this show, there were no opening bands, and the banter was on the low end of the scale. All of it lies in the experience, so it's hard to accurately put into words - but that won't stop me from trying: The show opened around 8:00 and the band started around 9:20. I went in with the knowledge that these guys take the Led Zeppelin thing very seriously, and these guys fucking blew me away with their dedication. Bruce Lamont's voice, along with the musicianship, clothing, and "gimmicks" of the others made me forget at times that I wasn't seeing the real Led Zeppelin - a rare feat for any tribute band. The band opened up with my favorite LZ song, and it just got better from there (no Kashmir made me sad though), passing through hit after hit, getting the audience moving like nothing I've ever seen before. As long as I'll live, I will never forget the sight of mid-aged men and little old ladies all lighting blunts, losing their shit, and nodding their heads/moving to the beat of the band like they were teenagers again. One of them even walked out crying and saying something to the effect of "I feel like I'm a kid again...I'm back in the 70's..." On a really stupid note, after the show, my friend and I went to grab a bite at a nearby Taco Bell, and we wound up staring at the quesadilla wrapper (it said something like "-created with a whole lotta love"), so we started joking that it was a sign or something. Just felt like saying that. If you get the chance to see them, go. You won't regret it.
