Down -- Sauget, IL -- September 21st, 2012
I was at the soundcheck for Down and they nailed an awesome cover of Robin Trower's Bridge Of Sighs and their own Rehab.
Haarp came on first and was awesome as usual. If you have not checked them out yet but are a fan of sludge metal like Eyehategod, Outlaw Order, etc give Haarp a listen. I am not familiar with song titles.
Warbeast was next and they were absolutely a huge suprise. They won the audience over. The band was tight and energetic. They are old school thrash that reminded me of old Exodus with a bit of Slayer thrown in. Phil Anselmo joined them onstage for a song as well. Once again I am not familiar with the bands song titles.
Down hit the stage and was awesome as usual. The new songs went over really well except for The Curse which is not a high energy song (although a very good song imo) and did not translate well with the audience as the other new songs did even though it sounded fantastic live. Phil did a lot of talking but the band was having fun. Being that haarp was added to this tour startng with this show knocked out a couple of songs the first 2 shows had from Down due to time restrictions. No material from Down III: Over the Under was played live and only two songs from Down II were played live.
Eyes of the South
Lysergik Funeral Procession
Pillars of Eternity
Ghosts Along the Mississippi
Hail the Leaf
Stone the Crow
Bury Me in Smoke/Nothing in Return(Walk Away) outro
I got word that Down will kick off a US tour in early 2013 that will hit the West Coast. Haarp was asked to open but I am hearing they may play a few shows but not the entire tour. Its all up in the air and they may not play any shows on that run.
I have to see Down live
Opening with Eyes of the South? Very nice choice.
Once again I have state how excellent they sounded, especially Pat Bruders on bass. His style & tone really fit Down.

They are a blast!!! Go see them!!!
How badass does Misfortune Teller sound live? That is definitely my favorite of the new ones and I feel like it should sound wonderful live.

I've heard it live twice and they absolutely nail it live. Along with all of the other songs too :D
