I wouldn't be that excited for Imaginaerum since they've just been using it as a taped outro;) This was posted just after 10 o'clock, the show was over that early? |
They changed the setlist! I might have to go to this now...
|
Awesome set. Can't wait to see them on Saturday.

In Europe over the summer they were playing Ghost River where DCOW is on this set. Come Cover Me was also getting played a decent amount, so there may be some more changes to come for the North American tour. |

Ok. I thought maybe something happened to cause the show to start early. How did Nightwish sound? |

Ahh I didn't even realize the lack of Ghost River. I am sad now. :( I'm okay with DCOW being in its place, though. More variety, I suppose. |

How did Nightwish sound?
They sounded great for the most part. Annette sounded great and Marco was good except for like one song. The mix was superb and I am hoping for a slightly different set from both bands tonight |
Perhaps I need to check out their post Tarja material but from what I had heard it just doesn't sound the same :(
I used to want to see Nightwish soooo bad. |

I used to want to see Nightwish soooo bad.
Well Annette's a very different singer so naturally they'd sound different, but the two albums with her are excellent. |

I used to want to see Nightwish soooo bad.
I actually prefer the way Anette sings the older songs. Obviously she doesn't have the range that Tarja does, but she actually sings the songs in more of a rock n' roll style as opposed to operatic (which I prefer). For the record Anette sounded phenomenal last night. Powerful, clear, in tune. Just amazing. Way better than when I saw her on the Dark Passion Play Tour. And her stage presence has improved greatly since she joined. |

I used to want to see Nightwish soooo bad.
You should check both albums out. It doesn't all sound the same but it's not that far off from the direction they headed on Once. Anette's voice is very different, so Tuomas has changed his song writing style a little to fit her vocals but he hasn't changed it completely. Tarja could've easily recorded the last two Nightwish albums and they would've sounded fine. Just like how I believe Anette could've recorded the old Nightwish material and they would still be great albums. Make no mistake about it, Tuomas is Nightwish. Without his great song writing the band would be nothing. As long as he continues that, the band will always be Nightwish no matter who they have on vocals. All Tuomas needs is a capable female singer to perform the material and they will be fine. He makes Nightwish, not whoever is singing. |
