Hypocrisy -- Toronto, Ontario -- May 29th, 2010
Support: Scar Symmetry, Blackguard, Swashbuckle
Date: Saturday May 29th, 2010
Venue: the Annex Wreckroom in Toronto, Ontario

I didn’t notice the ticket for this show read that doors were at 5pm, so when I showed up at 7pm I'd missed almost every opening band and Scar Symmetry were already on. What I heard was pretty decent Swedish melo-death.

Hypocrisy came on really early, 8pm. The coolest part of the show was actually during the sound check. Their sound guy was doing the mic checks and he was doing those demonic screeches that Peter Tägtgren does bang on. To hear those screeches without music in the background was fucking awesome. Not to say that Hypocrisy were overshadowed by their soundman. They fucking destroyed. Hypocrisy was one of the first death metal bands I ever got into back in the late 1990's. I haven't really listened to them too much later in their career but to see them live finally was great. Fractured Millennium was one of my favorite songs in my second year of college so I was really happy they played it.

It was weird getting out of a club and the sun still being up. I think the Wreckroom is a dance club on Saturday’s, or they just knew they’d make way more money from the bar crowd than a heavy metal show.

I saw this tour the day before in Worcester and Hypocrisy killed it. Same set plus another medley after the Pleasure/Osculum one. I remember all the opening bands boring me though.

I'm not too upset missing Swashbuckle, and with Blackguard there's always next month.

I remember there being a few other bands on the tour that weren't able to make the Toronto date.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 07:36 PM.
