Mama Kin :rocker: I have to admit - after giving up on these guys after seeing them in 2009 on the ill-fated "Train Wreck" tour, they have redeemed themselves in a big way! While not quite up to the standards of their shows back in the day (let's face it - they are in their 60's now!), they ROCKED. Maybe it's getting rid of the whole American Idol thing, maybe not, but Tyler was the Tyler I remember! Oh, and a setlist that was pretty much free of the late 90's/early 2000's ballad/pop crap went a looooong way to winning me back. The Gaaaahden was packed to the rafters and everyone was having a blast - audience and the band. After the last notes of "Mama Kin" (Which they added at the last minute) faded, and Joe Perry said that "it was great to be playing at home, and it was a bummer that it was over" you really had to believe him! Cheap Trick was good too, but the sound was a little off during their set. Brad Whitford came out and played with them on "Ain't That A Shame", which was a treat - I have always been a fan of Brad's playing, and anytime I can see him play out from under Perry's shadow is amazing! 3 years ago I would have laughed if anyone had told me I'd be saying this, but... Go see them if you can! |
All things considered that is a pretty good set list.
