That bill is beautiful. How was Iggy?
The bill is shit. Might as well have just been a Soundgarden show with Iggy supporting. Iggy was awesome. Best performance of the day. |
4th of July and Slaves? WOW!

Iggy was awesome. Best performance of the day.
Didn't notice BSC and RW&B, but Iggy and 'garden are a great combination! |

Great songs, but not unusual on the reunion tour since 2010 as far as I know |

I added them once I got home ;) Those were basically the four good bands on the whole bill all day. Albeit I know some people here dig The Mars Volta, who were on at the same time as Iggy. Hawk Eyes also played, who I like, but they clashed with BSC. |

Yeah, they play them all the time. The rarity is Superunknown. |

They played it pretty much every night on their last N.American tour. |
Soundgarden's set looks OK on paper but they don't really sound that good anymore.

Have you actually seen them since they reunited? They are solid live. |

They haven't been on this tour. |

Yep. Seen them twice on this tour, both sounded great. |

All kinds of wrong right here. |

Wasn't asking you  |
No Live To Rise? I actually like that song.

Yeah, I was surprised too. They had time as well, except that they always spend the last five minutes of their sets fucking around with feedback. They did start five minutes late though due to Iggy & The Stooges running over slightly. |
How was the sound for you Andy?
Heard from a few people it was too quiet, which is something that's taken the edge off every show I've seen at Hyde Park. Couldn't make it myself as had the folks visiting this weekend. I'd have caught Skindred aside from those you listed. |
Sound was fine for Soundgarden, but yes I agree it was too quiet for everyone else on the main stage before them. My guess would be they didn't want to drown out the shitty little stages that were close by, but after about half an hour of Soungarden's set there was no one else playing.
I watched the first four songs of Skindred's set, but their sound was so poor I couldn't be bothered with the rest and went in search of food. Skindred annoy me though. Massively heavy and bags of groove live, basically an indie band on record. |
It's always quiet due to the sound limit. Actually was mentioned in an article in the Evening Standard today...

Worse still when they know the odd song and all you can hear is them singing out of tune. |

Seriously, you haven't heard heavy until you've heard them do 'Gun'. I've seen doom bands with less bottom-end. |

Pulling up Ugly Truth on You Tube last year and hearing vocal echo effects kinda ruined it for me when prior to the reunion everything was completely pure. (Or maybe it wasn't but I tend to avoid any live stuff post 1992 - they never really looked or sounded comfortable after that). |
They sound great, play well, and look completely happy and comfortable doing it. Obviously continue skipping them if you prefer, but you're wrong.
