Ted Nugent -- Clarkston, MI -- June 28th, 2012
 

We got there late & missed the first 20 min of REO Speedwagon. I was really impressed w/ their set, though. I'd so see 'em again. Here are the songs we saw:

Styx was next. They've got some OK songs, but I'm just not a fan. "Blue Collar Man" & "Come Sail Away" were cool, though. I was just ready to see Ted Nugent.

The Motor City Madman headlined. I go see him every summer, and it's always one of the shows I look forward to the most. It's just good hard rock, and he's a great guitarist. It's also refreshing to see an entertainer who doesn't complain about how messed up the world is. Politics aside, he genuinely loves this country & loves his life. That's awesome! He didn't get as long of a set as usual b/c the 2 opening bands each played an hour, but the show was still great. He opened the set the right way w/ an awesome cover of "Kick Out the Jams" and then my favorite song of his, "Just What the Doctor Ordered." Other highlights were "Fred Bear" & "Stranglehold." No Great White Buffalo??? Thought he always ended his shows with that, no matter what kind of show he was a part of.

Ah well. Glad ya had a good time. I'm thanking my lucky stars I get to see a solo show of his in a couple of weeks. 3rd time in 3 years. Ted's got one of my favorite live guitar tones ever.
