why do people do this

What do you mean?
Is that particular place in the middle of nowhere?
I've been hearing that some of the shows at the Ballroom in SF have been way undersold and canceled... I have a hard time believing Steve Vai is gonna come close to selling out that place.

I think the problem is that besides the Fillmore there's no middle ground venue between Slim's and the Regency. The only really packed shows out of the many I've attended there have been Amon Amarth, Sleep, and Tim and Eric. Every other show I've seen there has been half capacity or less. I truly have no clue why bands rather play a third capacity Regency instead of a packed Slim's, but they do regardless.
May go to this. Never seen Vai before, but I don't wanna go if it's too expensive.
Official announcement finally, 3 days after I found the complete route on the Facebook BandsInTown app.
Only error on my end was the Morristown, NJ date. That one is September 8th, not August 8th.
