Ulver -- Turin, Italy -- November 10th, 2011
A bit too much off the new album and unfortunately nothing from Shadows of the Sun, but they played "Capitel I: I Troldskog faren vild" for (what I believe was) the second time ever. I wish Ulver would come to the US and play a set showcasing their whole discography.

I think they play the same day as Agalloch at Roadburn. Holy fuck I'd kill to see that

This. I'm not that much familiar with Ulver's recent stuff, but it must be a fucked up experience to see them live. |

Capitel I: I Troldskog faren vild
WHAT |
Capitel I: I Troldskog faren vild
WHAT
Here's a video of the first time they did it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjfhba31Yzc I love how people in the crowd cheer when they start it. People still care about the old stuff! |
Damn that would be awesome.
|
The first time it was played, Garm did it with members of Strid, Order of the Ebon Hand, and Nocternity, because the other members of Ulver didn't know how to play it. From the videos at this show they only played about 5 minutes of the song, sort of improvised. Either way, still very cool. And you can see that Tore Ylwizaker (their keyboardist) is actually playing bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7F8Rw843c4

Never thought they'd play the old stuff. Awesome.

Does everyone really dislike Ulver's later material that much? Of course Bergtatt and those old ones are great but I love all the albums they have put out in the last 10 - 12 years. I think its quite admirable of them to be able to cover so many genres quite effectively and its neat that they have such a wide variety of music to listen to. I think a concert of any of their songs, old or new, would be well worth it.
