A Silver Mt. Zion -- Toronto, Ontario -- January 27th, 2012

A Silver Mt. Zion
Support: none
Venue: Lee's Palace in Toronto, Ontario
Source: setlist.fm

I had a ticket for this show but was called in to work overtime. The prospect of earning $300 outweighed a show I wasn't entirely looking forward too. Had it been Godspeed You! Black Emperor I would've gone (this is a band led by GYBE mainman Efrim), but seeing the setlists they've been playing the last year I wasn't too thrilled. And seeing the setlist posted at setlist.fm the next day I wasn't sorry I went.

1. Take Away These Early Grave Blues
2. Blind, Blind, Blind
3. 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons
4. There Is A Light
5. The State Itself Did Not Agree
6. Horses In The Sky
7. What We Loved Was Not Enough
Encore:
8. Psalms99

Eight songs seems like not much but each song was at least 10-15 minutes, so it's safe to say they played for close to two hours. But nothing from their first few (better) albums...I'm glad I went to work.

Seeing these guys in LA when I'm there, hopefully they play a similar length set, maybe change a couple for older ones though.

I thought there was an opening sax player on this tour?

The fact that they never play anything off their first two albums is a real turn-off.

Maybe? The doors were 9pm, which seemed late to me and made me think it was an "evening with" sorta show. But then again some shows run late. If the opener was a solo sax player then I'm even more glad I didn't go, sax is one instrument I can not stand.
