Nightwish -- West Hollywood, CA -- January 19th, 2012
This was a secret show, the first one since September 2009, this show was not scheduled in the Nightwish page...I think was made to release the tension before the first concert of the tour, tomorrow night in Universal City.
They played under the name "Rubber Band of Wolves" Venue: Key Club Intro Storytime Wish I Had an Angel Amaranth Scaretale The Siren Slow, Love, Slow ----------------------------------- I Want My Tears Back (with Troy Donockley) The Crow, the Owl and the Dove (with Troy Donockley) The Islander (with Troy Donockley) (Acoustic Version) Nemo (with Troy Donockley) (Acoustic Version) Last of the Wilds (with Troy Donockley) -------------------------------------- Planet Hell Song of Myself Last Ride of the Day ----------------------------------- The Poet and the Pendulum Over the Hills and Far Away (Gary Moore cover) (With Troy Donockley) (Outro Tape): Imaginaerum I'm looking forward to see Ghost River in the set, amazing song of the new record, and it's good to see 2 songs past 12 minutes like Song of Myself and The Poet and the Pendulum |
Have no complaints. 'Rest Calm' would be nice to hear, although they actually pulled out Song of Myself, so it's justified. I'm looking forward to the U.S. tour.

Huh....the acoustic version of Nemo sounds like it'd be interesting.

No Ghost River is kind of a bummer. No pre-Once material except for the Gary Moore cover is DEFINITELY a bummer. And Slow, Love, Slow? Get that outta there guys... nice on the album, but it's a waste of a live slot.
Had I actually been there I wouldn't be complaining, because I don't believe in a "bad" Nightwish set. But I wasn't so there's my :2cents: |

But I wasn't so there's my :2cents:
There are a few songs that wasn't played last night, that they have been rehearsing...Turn Loose The Mermaids, Rest Calm, and Ghost River, so I think maybe tomorrow in the first show may be appearing hopefully. |
I saw a youtube clip of Song Of Myself and thankfully they don't do the spoken word part of the song. They just go right into Last Ride Of The Day instead. I read that they've rehearshed everything off the new album, so i'm guessing all the songs from it will be played since they were pretty good at switching songs up on their last tour.
It sucks that there's nothing off WM or CC but I understand why. It's a different era of the band now and that's what they should focus on. Sabbath did they same thing with Dio and Van Halen did the same when Hagar was with them. It just makes sense to play the stuff your singer is most comfortable performing. |
In case anyone is wondering the show they played on saturday at the Gibson amphitheater had the same set. Here's a great recording of Planet Hell from that show:
