Manky's 2011 Year-End Review Extravaganza!

I am in the final stages of finalizing my top albums list, so I figured I'll make the thread.

Content, in order it will be posted:

Best "Surprise" bands I saw this year
Best bands I saw this year
Top songs
Top albums

There are fifty (edit: FIFTY-ONE god damnit) albums, and here are some that did not make the cut. Not because I don't like them, but because I haven't listened:

Black Dahlia Murder - Ritual
Deafheaven - Roads To Judah
Landmine Marathon - Gallows
Leviathan - True Traitor, True Whore
Opeth - Heritage
Hate Eternal - Phoenix Amongst The Ashes
Obscura - Omnivium
Tombs - Path Of Totality
Hammers Of Misfortune - 17th Street
Trap Them - Darker Handcraft
Blasphemophager - The III Command of the Absolute Chaos
Machine Head - Unto The Locust
Blut Aus Nord - 777 Sects (unfortunately)

I am actually seeing a concert on Sunday that might make some lists, so until then I will spend time solidifying my rankings!
Obscura - Omnivium
MISTAKE!
Landmine Marathon - Gallows
BIG FUCKING MISTAKE!!!

EDIT: Before somebody gets flame-happy, Tombs and deafheaven were good, too - but I doubt Manks would have thought much of them anyway.

I will say that one of those bands is making one of my lists. A good list. And they'll probably be at or near the top!

Love em, wasn't too impressed with Deflorate, so skipped on Ritual this year.

Deafheaven and Trap Them gets the boot! They're better be no pop punk! :flame:

The 'Hammers of Misfortune' and 'Blut Aus Nord' albums were really good too.

Ritual > Deflorate any day.

I think Heritage is worth a listen just to see what it's like for the sake of it (probably wouldn't be a "top" contender).
