Hate Eternal -- Phoenix Amongst the Ashes

At the beginning of the year, this album was well ingrained in my top 10. But several too many listens had an adverse effect on me. This album is still really good, but it's a bit grating now. But anyways. Hate Eternal play brutal death metal. I hate brutal death metal. I like this. I'm not really sure how that works. But the songs, many with impressively catchy melodies, tend to stick out from each other, and that's a MAJOR plus in my book. Honestly, I wouldn't even call this brutal death metal. It is pretty brutal but it doesn't sound like what I imagine most brutal death metal sounds like (Suffocation is brutal death metal, right? I fucking hate them).

I really don't know if Logan is just a giant troll or really doesn't know basic metal genres

I didn't really see any reason to reply.

But still, pray tell me: when you guys say I don't know metal genres, are you talking about this thread? Or this hipster bullshit that I'm going on about? If it's the former, please enlighten me. I was always under the impression that Hate Eternal and Suffocation were brutal death metal, but perhaps I was wrong.

It's mainly about the hipster thing. I thought it was obvious by my post above, which, by the way, is insanely funny.

Cianide - Gods of Death

The first time I heard Cianide was when I was checking out all the bands from the ROD lineup. Sadly, I didn't like what I heard. That wasn't surprising though, as I don't consider myself a death-doom fan. But this album is fuckin' great. It's got that sorta-murky/bass-heavy sound found in death-doom, but aside from a few parts, I don't hear much doom. Just really, really solid and well-executed death metal. I'm not sure how else to describe it. It's got a distinct guitar tone for death metal but I'm pretty sure I've heard it before. Check it out for yourself!
