Kamelot -- Worcester, MA -- August 31st, 2011
Rule the World
The Great Pandemonium
The Human Stain
Center of the Universe
When the Lights Are Down
March of Mephisto
The Agonist were ehh (Alyssa sounded great during soundcheck, but for some reason her vox went way down halfway through their set), Blackguard were fun as usual, Alestorm got a great crowd response but were not my thang, and Kamelot were amazing. I know the above set doesn't look like much, but their performance was ON. Any awkwardness Fabio had during the European tour was gone -- he looked and sounded like he'd been with the band all along. The crowd was incredibly supportive of him, even chanting his name in several places; the band looked especially awed after the chant after Abandoned.
Met JuuKun, who is awesome.
I talked to the band after the show and they said they'd definitely come back to Worcester, hopefully in the downstairs section of the Palladium next time. They agree that power metal bands should really have similar-sounding bands on their tours, and they have something "really cool" cooking up TBA in January. And Fabio said he's planning on applying for the vocalist position permanently, because he loves the band and their music (though he, too, loved Roy and misses him lots).
I've seen Kamelot... six times, I think? And this might be tied with their gig with Epica in 2006 for the best time I've seen them. Seriously, if you have any doubts about them, go.
do you know Alestorms set by any chance?
Let's see, I know they played Wolves of the Sea, Keelhauled, Wenches and Mead, Captain Morgan's Revenge, The Sunk'n Norwegian, Shipwrecked, Back Through Time... not sure what else.

Oh man, I even get italics.
setlist.fm has Alestorm's set as:
1. Back Through Time
3. Wenches and Mead
4. Nancy the Tavern Wench
5. Wolves of the Sea
6. The Sunk'n Norwegian
7. Heavy Metal Pirates
8. Captain Morgan's Revenge
And, like Akumu said, Kamelot were fantastic. Such a great show. That's all that there is to say, really.
This was upstairs at the Palladium? That must have been awesome to be that close to the band because it's a tiny stage up there.
Next person who posts a Kamelot set without pictures of Simone is gettin' a beatdown :boxer:
That reminds me - was it the lighting, or is Simone blonde now?
Pretty sure it was the lighting. However, her color was probably fading - I think she's actually a natural strawberry blonde.
That's a pretty good set. Would be nice to hear Farewell or something off the Fourth Legacy. I don't really listen to Kamelot as much but I might want to go to this now..
