Down -- San Antonio, TX -- September 1st, 2011
Venue: Backstage Live
Openners: Ponykiller / In Solitude This was the first date on the tour. The band sounds great and seemed to be having a really good time. It has been quite a few years since I've seen Down so I was really looking forward to this and the band definitely didn't disappoint. Setlist as follows: Eyes of the South N.O.D. Lysergik Funeral Procession The Path Lifer (dedicated to Dimebag Darrell) Pillars of Eternity New Orleans Is A Dying Whore Losing All Underneath Everything Ghosts Along the Mississippi Temptations Wings Swan Song Encore: Hail the Leaf Stone the Crow Bury Me In Smoke |
Down need to get some new material out, they're an amazing live band but that set is tired!
|
I really considered driving down for this show, but I've already seem 'em this year and have spent a lot of money on tickets lately. Looks like a solid, but yeah, definitely a standard Down set.

Any word on the In Solitude set?

I'm not familiar with they're music, so I have no clue what they played. They were really fun to watch though and I really enjoyed their set. |
Yeah that looks like the same exact setlist they played when i seen them exactly 2 years ago in Sept. I'm planning on seeing them later this month too. It's still a pretty good set. Just wish they change it up a bit. I'd like to see Stained Glass Cross, Beautifully Depressed, or The Seed again.

Don't they have new stuff coming out soon? Why don't they thrown in a couple new songs

Damn I'd love to hear that one live |
After seeing this, I'm not so bummed about missing them next week. That's pretty much the same set I saw on the Down/Melvins/Weedeater tour a few years ago. I really wish they would just go back to the evening with Down sets. Those were:drool:

This looks pretty much like the Toronto date from the September 2009 tour except I don't think they played Temptations Wings that night and they played Nothing In Return (Walk Away) to close out the regular set. And the Melvins didn't play either. We got Voivod instead.
Regardless they were really good. |
