Sleep -- Calgary, Alberta -- June 24th, 2011

Alright another setlist to drop here. Sleep played at the Sled Island Festival in Calgary just over a month ago and I was lucky to attend. Also playing were Bison BC, The Sword and a couple of others that I didn't watch... Here's the Bison BC setlist, don't know enough from The Sword to give a full set unfortunately.

Bison BC:
-------------
Primal Emptiness of Outer Space
Two-Day Booze
Wendigo (Quest For Fire)
Melody, This Is For You
Stressed Elephant
These Are My Dress Clothes

And then Sleep... holy fuck these guys are absolutely MASSIVE live, you really, truly have to see this band live to appreciate them, their studio stuff is but a pale shadow of what their music is like when it's experienced live. Absolutely tremendous show, one of the best I've ever seen. The only thing that was disappointing was the fact that they were originally going to play From Beyond (one of my favorites, was really hoping to hear it) but crossed it out on the setlist and didn't play it (same with The Druid and Nain's Baptism). It was still an absolutely incredible set though, 90 minutes of the heaviest band I've ever seen... if you ever get a chance to see these guys, DO IT, even if you have to travel a bit... it's absolutely worth it.

Setlist:
------------
First 20 minutes of Dopesmoker
Holy Mountain
Dragonaut
Antarcticans Thawed
Aquarian
Sonic Titan
Cultivator

Man, I'm jealous of that show. Any idea if Sleep are planning on playing any more shows in the future?

No idea, but I really hope so. They do one-off shows once in a while so it's entirely possible. Personally, I would LOVE to see them become a full-time band again and do some actual proper tours. Seriously, they were so, SO fucking good, everybody should get a chance to see this.
