40 Below Summer -- Sayerville, NJ -- October 2nd, 2010
This is going to be a shorter review because all the opening bands were pretty much shitty local bands.
Anyway, we got there around 6:20ish, halfway through a band called Thanatotic Desire. They were generic metal but they weren't that good. Then an E.Town Concrete wanna be band came on named Disaster Fantastic. They even had the E.Town guitarist come on stage and play a cover of Shaydee with them. Then a good band came on stage called Ashes of Your Enemy. My friend Joe is friends with their guitarist so thats why he was there and they were pretty good. They had kinda like an Unearth sound, they actually got the crowd going. Then Dead Men Dreaming played and they sucked, generic rock and roll. The last band of the unknowns came on called With Daggers Drawn, it was the singer of 40 Below and they weren't actually that good, metalcoreish but I just wasn't feeling them.
Then after a long wait at around 10:30 the band I pretty much came to see went on, God Forbid. They were awesome. It's been a while since I've seen them, last time was the tour with Lamb of God, AILD and Bodom. G forbid were really good. Intense pits, great song selection and pure energy. They definitely stole the show for me. They even played a fucking Slayer cover. 9.5/10

Finally at around 11:30, 40 Below Summer went on. Now I didn't know any of their music so I didn't know what to expect. We left after a few songs but what I saw I liked. I'll definitely check them out more. I know they played their album Invitation To The Dance in it's entirety, I don't know if they played anything else though. 6.5/10
We The People
Step Into the Sideshow
Falling Down (left during this song)
Those are all the songs on that album. Don't know if they played anything else.
Wow.... I didn't know 40 Below Summer still existed... they play some kind of nu-metal, right?
And how is God Forbid not the headliner here? Didn't they catch a pretty decent following in the mid/late 00's?
this was one of 40 Below's reunion shows. And yes God Forbid should've headlined, they were awesome.
god forbid jumped on bc theyre all friends, local hometown show, help the show draw numbers-wise, etc.
that step into the sideshow song was my jam when i worked at WSOU.
god forbid rules. i can't believe they covered SOH, that's crazy
I reckon God Forbid did South Of Heaven because Byron was involved in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_lea3p547g
Just looked up 40 Below Summer, don't dig them at all to be quite honest.
oh, theyre not good at all. that song got me though.
I really like 40 Below Summer and am pissed I missed this show. I had a free ticket and ride and went to a local Festival and forgot about it.
The song Taxicab Confession was on my GTA soundtrack and It played so often that it beat it into my skull. Great vocals on that song
Here is the full setlist from setlist.fm. I'm really pissed to find out they played my song. Doh!
