Closer To The Heart (Alex Acoustic Intro) 22. 2112 (Overture/The Temples of Syrinx) 23. Far Cry 24. La Villa Strangiato 25. Working Man My first time seeing Rush and they were AMAZING! Like, I knew it would be great, but I didn't expect to be blown away like that. The videos were funny, the special effects were cool, the guys looked like they were having fun, and the musicianship was mindblowing. I knew Geddy was a great bassist and he was always one of my favorites but I have a new-found respect for his playing now that I've seen him live. Sold out show but the crowd was still a bit lame. I guess that's to be expected with so many old fans wearing polos in attendance. It's the first time I've heard Caravan and BU2B and I thought Caravan was so-so but BU2B was great. I liked Geddy's remark about how it was fitting for the high holidays. Highlights: Marathon, Presto, YYZ, Subdivisions, The Camera Eye |
I'm glad you enjoyed your first live Rush experience. But honestly there's really no way you couldn't. They are the best band to see live. Hopefully this won't be the last time you see them. I've seen them 8 times so far and it hasn't gotten old yet. I'm looking at going to see them at least twice next summer so I can get it up to 10 before they may possibly decide to retire:(

Alex Lifeson recently said in an interview that he hopes the band will keep going for years to come...so I wouldn't worry about the r-word too much just yet...

I know but the guys will be 60 in a few years so it's always a possiblity. Then again Ozzy, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones and other guys who are older still tour regularly so Rush will probably do the same. Dio was 67 and had no signs of stopping, so Rush more than likely will keep going for awhile yet:party: |

Plus you have to remember that these soon to be 60 year olds aren't all cracked out and in bad shape like the other ones you mentioned, sans Dio of course. They took care of themselves through all the years, and that's very evident when you see them now, I think. So yes, I think they'll be around awhile. |

True, but don't think they never got high at all. Even Geddy said on the Beyond The Lighted Stage documentary that while writting and recording for COS they were high for that. I rekcon throughout most of the 70s they were:stoned: There's no way Neil worte some of the lyrics he did then while clear headed:D They've taken good care of themselves though as they've never been much for partying and stuff like that after the shows. |
Friend of mine went to this, he said it was pretty good.

Congrats on your first Rush show dude! Best live band on the planet!

Finally taking a really serious look at this setlist since I'm seeing them in May - I hope they keep this for the European leg. It's impossible for a band with nineteen albums to make a "perfect setlist," but this is damn close. :fist:
