Exodus -- Santa Ana, CA -- September 11th, 2010
Exodus were fucking killer. It was my 4th time seeing them this year (they actually played in the LA area five times but I missed their set when they opened for Megadeth) but I want more. Just can't get enough of them. This time I participated in the wall of death too. It wasn't as brutal as I thought it would be. I went right through it to the other side
BBB, Holy Grail and Malevolent Creation were great as support but I thought the sound during their sets sucked, being too bass heavy and the vocals weren't too audible.
Full review, pictures and interviews with Exodus and BBB will be posted soon.
The Ballad of Leonard and Charles
Beyond the Pale
Children of a Worthless God
A Lesson In Violence
War Is My Shepherd
Bonded By Blood
The Toxic Waltz
Strike Of The Beast
For All Eternity
Call of Valhalla
Fast as a Shark (Accept cover)
Crisis in Utopia
My Last Attack
Fight to Kill
Exodus didn't impress me as much as they did you. Although, that is mostly because I am not a Rob Dukes fan. They put on a great performance and Rob was more active on stage than the last time I saw them, but I just don't like his vocals at all.
The band of the night for me was Malevolent Creation. They aren't one of my favorite death metal bands, but they are absolutely crushing live. I enjoyed all of the songs in their set and the crowd was really into them. :rocker:
Holy Grail was great, but there was an annoying crackling noise during most of their set. I wasn't too big on Bonded by Blood before tonight, but they put on a great show. Their guitarists have a good amount of talent. And there were two local bands opening the show. The first one bored me, but second, Scarred, completely surprised me. I went and bought their EP after their set. If you like progressive/power metal you should check them out.
I've seen them perform a better set, sort of happy I'm going to Sleep and not this.
you got "A Lesson In Violence!!!" :flame::mad::flame::mad:
instead we got "Downfall."
Well I didnt get into Magrudergrind so me and my gf were like this the whole ride to Exodus:bawling::bawling::bawling::bawling: .
When we got to venue me and RJ met up with Andrew and then met treghet.
1st band was called Dyer and they were so typical, but they tried to add some bit of Groove so i give em that. Other than that im not impressed. 2nd band was Scarred, the band we got tickets off. People really seemed to like em,but me personally i dislike Prog.Metal.:hmm:
Bonded By Blood-3rd time seeing them. Always a great opener. Aladin was nice enough to take a picture, and tho I asked him for the 20th time to please play Vengeance, they didnt :( Overall badass :blaze:
Holy Grail-now Andrew got me into this band when put the EP in my ipod. I thought it was impossible to play old skool Heavy Metal, but these guys pulled it off sick. I was wondering how they were gonna play since they only have 3 songs out to the public plus 2 covers. But they had tricks up their sleeves and made it good. Accept cover was great to. Im a fan:blaze:
Malevolent Creation-since no one really heard of this band,me and my friends decided to sit this one out. But from the back me and my other friend were really getting into them. The singer put out so much energy and his death growls were fuckin old skool. Im gonna start checking out this band more cause I was really impressed.:rocker:
Exodus-2nd time seeing them. I was really disappointed at Ozzfest, but everyone kept telling me they were better headlining. So I decided to tag along. Like Treghet said,Rob Dukes singing for Exodus is lame. I love Baloff/Zetro era. But Rob Dukes voice is not for Exodus. I got really excited when they played Bonded By Blood and the other classics. I had fun watching them, but Im still hoping for a Zetro reunion.Gary Holt is still fuckin amazing.:shred:

Not gonna happen.
Hollywood sucked, Santa Ana kicked ass! My review is done. ;)

I saw 'em play Toxic Waltz with Zetro. :)
It's quite evident the rest of the band has some issues with him though.

That was just a one-off. When I asked Gary about it he was more than clear that it's not gonna happen. His exact words "I'm not looking to form a tribute band. If he was coming back into the band, don't you think I would have recorded the new album with him??"
I personally don't have any problem with Rob Dukes' vocals. He does a great job on all Exodus songs and is a great guy to talk to as well. I loved every minute of all the Exodus shows I've been to.
For all those people who go to the shows and still complain about the vocals, its kind of ridiculous. If I hated a band's vocalist so much, I would stay at home rather than spend money, see the show and still come back and have nothing else to say but to bitch about the fucking vocalist. There I said it.

I thought you were talking about the March 31st show. But instead you were talking about the Scion show you didn't get into :P
