Marilyn Manson walks on stage, sucks his own cock, kills himself in the process, everyone goes home happy.

YES Fires of Sadition. I love your viewpoint on Manson. Fuck him. When I went to Mayhem over the past summer, Everyone left after Slayer and in the parking lot they were all shouting Fuck Manson! Supposadly at my show, only like a third of the crowd was there to see Manson. How the fuck does Manson get top billing at Mayhem and not SLAYER? Boggles my mind. As far as the setlist goes, I refuse to listen to Manson because the shit I've heard isn't metal and sucks balls, the only song I really know is the Beautiful People, and that's not even on the setlist. The only good thing that ever came from Marilyn Manson was John 5. The stuff he is doing with Rob Zombie is amazing. Way better off in Zombie.

I respect Manson an enormous amount, specifically for his interview in Bowling for Columbine, as well for being different, and taking his art out there and not giving a fuck what people thought of him. But recently hes been totally downhill. I saw him headline at graspop this year, and he sucked. I stayed for sweet dreams, my favorite song of his, even though it a cover, an then left. And putting slayer on before him is a good idea, its an even bigger risk to put someone on before slayer as we all no wat the fans are like!!

I think it's cool he does his own thing and doesn't give a shit about anything anyone thinks about it, but I hate his music...a lot.

Good point about putting on a band before slayer. I think the fans would have been chanting Slayer the whole time during Manson's set if he played before them. I think if they got a good metal band to open for Slayer, it would have been fine, like Lamb of God, Rob Zombie, or Fear Factory. I have a story that relates to this. I saw the Slipknot, Trivium, and Coheed and Cambria show in January. The order they played in was Trivium, then Coheed, then Slipknot closed. First off, what the fuck is Coheed doing in a tour with those two metal monsters. Trivium was amazing and the crowd loved them, probably the last time they'll ever open. Then it was Coheed. OH MY GOD, they blew dick. Everyone was so amped up from Trivium and was absolutely stoked for Slipknot that they booed the whole time for Coheed, flicked them off, or (at least a third of the crowd) turned their backs during the entire set. I hate Coheed, but I kind of felt bad for them, since they obviously didn't belong with Slipknot and Trivium. Then Slipknot kicked ass.

Coheed and Cambria>>>Trivium IMO.
Anyways i lost a lot of respect for Manson after his horrific set at Mayhem. I liked his first 3 albums but then he just dropped off terribly. High End Of Low is one of the worst albums of 2009 its a complete and utter piece of shit. |
Coheed didn't really belong on that line up, they're far too mellow, id say that was a record label choice to make it a good package tour.. Trivium arent very big in the states either, so they'll be opening shows there again methinks.. Sure Metallica were opening shows until Justice came out..
|
Thats true. Coheed did not belong on that bill at all. They are far too mellow for a Slipknot show. I didnt attend that tour but im assuming every night Coheed got booed of the stage. Which is a shame because they are a very talented and unique band.
