Glenn Hughes -- Falkenberg, Sweden -- July 28th, 2009
Glenn Hughes was accompanied by a local coverband called T.H.U.M.B.E. on tuesday night and they pulled it off nicely. Glenn was in top form, the setlist was spot on (well, apart from...youŽll see...) and the band was more than competent. A bit underrehearsed, the endings of the songs were sometimes anyoneŽs guess, but a splendid time was had nonetheless.
The first encore, A whiter shade of pale, was sung so good by Glenn it almost brought tears to my eyes. I really hoped that would be the last song. Alas, we were "treated" to Smoke aswell, probably a contractual obligation from the arrangers since the posters all said Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple. Glenn pulled it off nicely and the audience (mainly families) finally got to hear a song they recognized. The guys around me kept screaming for Highway Star which is audible on the recording from the gig. Ah well, the follies of youth....
Great gig, great Glenn, lovely little gig (about 1000 people in a little square by the Grand Hotel).
