Meshuggah 2009 North America obZen Tour
Friday The 13th - Station 4, St Paul, Mn

Electric Red
New Millennium Cyanide Christ
Mouth Licking What You've Bled
Suffer In Truth
Rational Gaze (Did Not Play)
Straws Pulled At Random
Future Breed Machine (Fredik's Guitar was not working right at all)

Meshuggah to me, is one of the greatest bands of all time and this concert was a dream come true for me, I Saw Meshuggah at Ozzfest 2002 when i was 14, and made the drive from St Paul to Chicago to see them open for the awesome Ministry CuLaTour. But never seen them headline, it was all i could have hoped for times one million, never did so much pain feel so worth it, ha. I was right where I wanted to be, Front and Center on the guard rail, I got Fredik's Setlist and Tom gave me the first stick he handed out, one of the most insane, crazy, amazing, crushing, metal shows i have ever seen in my 21 years of life. (including 87 concerts) if you get the chance to see this tour...GO!:blaze::rocker::metal::wow:

It sucks that they didn't play Rational Gaze at your date.
It's been a great setlist, the only other songs you can ask for are Perpetual Black Second and In Death Is Life/In Death Is Death.

They definitely DID play Rational Gaze. They played it right after Stengah.

how was cynic? or the faceless?

good meshuggah set. i wish i was allowed to catch this tour on a school night :(

They definitely DID play Rational Gaze. They played it right after Stengah.

i have the setlist sitting right next to me, Fredik's setlist, they WERE going to play Rational Gaze right after Humilitive, but if you remember, they stopped and were talking and Frediks guitar was tweaking out and so they skipped it and went right into Straws Pulled At Random, i was front and center for this show, this show meant more then life to me, i know for a FACT what they played and how they played it, but after the Stengah it was the Mouth Licking What You Bleed, so my metal knowledge shall not be questioned, thanks come again :rocker:

I could see someone not as familiar with their music could mix up Lethargica with Rational Gaze.

02-18-2009, 11:27 AM
Im pretty damn sure they played Rational gaze, i was in the bar watching but that was one of the songs i was waiting for.

02-18-2009, 05:18 PM
You just contradicted yourself Cannibal. You said they played Mouth Licking What your Bled (its Bled, not Bleed idiot) after Combustion, but the setlist you posted doesnt have that song on it. We got Sane instead of Mouth Licking. And I did not mix up Rational Gaze and Lethargica. They played Combustion THEN Rational Gaze then stopped and talked to us. He introduced Lethargica before they played it. Ya know for someone who claims to be Meshuggah fan, you sure got a lot wrong.

Yup, they definately 100% played rational gaze. It was one of 6 songs I wanted to hear, and they played all 6.
I also know they played it because myself and two buddies of mine all at the same time screamed along with "I like Juice" and I definately talked to random guy there who was laughing and told me about how that video was the first time he heard meshuggah and he was glad they played it.
F-ed in the A!

If you're such a big fan and saw them for the first time in 2002 at ozzfest...
Why didn't you go to their Headlining show in 2003 with strapping young lad at the quest? cause i was there and that show was killer.
I got my poster signed by the members of the band.

Oh and 87 concerts isn't that many... I wouldn't pretend its anything to brag about. :/

02-20-2009, 04:34 AM
Yeah they've played Rational Gaze every show since Nothing came out from what I've seen. Great live song!

I'm seeing them tonight at Sold Out Recher Theatre and am so fukkin psyched! I've rediscovered Humilative and can't wait to hear that live now.

I'm hoping we get Mouth Licking over Electric Red since that's the only difference I've seen in the setlists.

I will go officially APESHIT during Suffer in Truth and Combustion!

Sure is pretty elitist in here.

Yeah, really.

some serious keyboard commandos in this thread

People from Minnesota, man...:tp:

Well if people (cannibal) actually knew what they were talking about then there would be no problems. Don't be wrong, and I think a "super fan" would never be wrong about a setlist. (I know I would never screw up a dark tranquillity setlist)

02-20-2009, 05:03 PM
Yea man, Minnesota nice, we love everyone here.

I was just trying to help out with fixing the setlist, but Cannibal took it wrong. Just trying to prevent people who dont know what they are talking about from posting wrong setlists.

02-22-2009, 07:58 PM
They definitely played rational gaze...

02-23-2009, 06:05 AM

Hey, we have plenty of civilization here.

It's just more related to the Aztecs than to modern civilization. :eyes:

Frediks Setlist in the flesh

i didnt go to Meshuggah in 2003 cuz i was 15 and living in chicago and it was an 18 or over show

being 21 in 6 weeks and to already have 87 shows under my belt is something im proud of

not exactly sure how Rational Gaze could have slipped my ears, but the proof is there and i dont remember it being played but i could have been mistaking, i was front and center on the rail and i might have gone deaf for a min? not sure, sorry for the mistake

02-23-2009, 02:34 PM
Nice, I got Fredrik's setlist on the Ministry tour and it just had tempos, and his footprint.

02-24-2009, 12:47 PM
hmm...thats odd.

they got a late start so that must have been the reason for the time crunch. they probably played rational gaze earlier in the set so they could at least play it.

kinda upset they skipped Mouth licking...........thats one of my favorites

02-28-2009, 09:05 PM
It definately wasn't 18+ because I was 15 at the time... lol I had to sit outside of the quest alone and wait for my dad to pick me up :(
I've been 21 for 6 months and i've been to roughly 126 concerts...
and i'm not proud of that because there are other people who've been listening to metal for a shorter period of time than me and have been to significantly more than I. and I've missed some pretty killer shows in the last 6 years that I had no reason to miss.
