Ozzfest (http://ozzfest.com/blog/entry/83)

" The two-time Grammy Award winner has decided that he will not be touring until he has a new album in-stores (currently projected to be Thanksgiving 2009). Thus, OZZY has decided to put his namesake festival OZZFEST on hold this year."

Wow.

Yep.

I think it's sad how the next sentence after them canceling it is about their fucking variety show on Fox.

Personally, I had a good run with Ozzfest. I didn't miss it at all last summer, mostly of the earlier Iron Maiden shows in California. That was "Ozzfest 2008" for me. This year? Right now, I don't really give care that much.

RIP, Ozzfest. Whatever. Thus speakth one of the last fans of Ozzfest on metalsetilsts.

I'm angry. Someone is going to have to step up since Mayhem fest is a load of crap.

Ozzy is actually in the studio recording his next album. I'd rather that than Ozzfest.

I'm sure, I wonder why???

Either way, I think it's about time that Ozzy lets the tour go like he said he was 3 years ago.
System of a Down closing was fucking great. I'd rather have Ozzfest with a good headliner and no Oz than no Ozzfest at all.

I think it WAS a load of crap, but this year seems decent.

Slayer is really the only band I would pay to see specifically. I would still see Behemoth and CC but I wouldn't lose any sleep if I missed them, and Manson might be interesting, especially since the Turk gave the previous Slayer/Manson tour thumbs up.

We all know that whoever is running Mayhem fest just picked retirement papers. It definitely raises the value of their show, but I'm still sticking to what I decided earlier; $20 and free parking makes it a go, anything more and I'll make other plans.

I wouldn't keep your hopes up.
Last year it was 40$ for lawn, 60$ for shitty seats (if I remember correctly)

I paid $35 for Slayer, so if it's $40 again, it'll be totally worth it.

I remember it being something like 20 or 25 at the door at the shoreline. Was it ticketmaster?

Lower levels were $70, so you might have things mixed up.

If Ozzfest can come back with a POWERHOUSE of bands and actually a full on tour I think they can revive themselves. They would have to beat Mayhem to the punch on everything. 1st Tour Dates and Bands. They get the bands before Mayhem plus bands that only Ozzfest could get (bigger acts like Maiden Judas and Megadeth as in the past) they could really turn the tides.

I'd love to see Ozzfest back. Ozzfest 07 was awesome for me. NILE!, Behemoth, Devildriver, Ankla, Ozzy, and Lordi lol, great show!

I got them on ticketmaster yes.
I paid 60$ for basically seats in the back row, and I am pretty sure I remember lawn being 40$ on there, but I am not positive.

You should know by now to avoid ticketmaster at all costs.

I do, but sometimes its unavoidable.
I wasn't going to risk a 3 hour drive to have it sold out either.

what other options are there?

There is always the venue, and usually one other way out. Mayhem fest had an online presale through their site last year, for example.
