not 100% on the Mastodon set. Their vocal mix was so bad on all three mics it was practically impossible to distinguish a single word. So I'm assuming it was the same set as elsewhere on this tour. Plus, what a fucking difficult band to watch. Incredibly impressive, but verging on boring. Nowhere near as gripping as the CDs.

Also not sure about "Ghosts of War" in the Slayer set. All I know is it was a song I didn't recognise (despite owning South of Heaven), and that's the one which has been following "Chemical Warfare" in their standard Unholy Alliance III set. Seeing as it was segued, I'm assuming that's a rehearsed thing.

They were great up to and including 'Angel of Death'. Then yaaaawwwnnn until 'Raining Blood'. Seriously, fucking dull.

Trivium also played, but who cares?

Matt Heafy: "If you're still not moving, you're not fucking metal!!"

No, Matt. We're still not moving because you're fucking shit. If a third of the crowd gave a fuck about Trivium tonight that was it. And he noticed too. He kept making comments along the lines of "if you're too cool to have fun at a Trivium show, get the fuck out" (it's a Slayer show Matt, in case you hadn't noticed) and similar.

I'd love to see the whole RIB album played. Postmortem! Jesus Saves! Necrophobic!

Also: taking out all but one of the post-Seasons and keeping Live Undead? Yes please.

Thanks for the sets! :blaze:

i would love to see Reign in Blood live. i would be fine with that slayer set. im not a big fan of their stuff after Seasons anyways. i think that amon amarth set is kinda weak. no Bleed for Ancient Gods. :(

to be honest, i don't think i would like to see reign in blood live. i would much rather see a regular set from them. not thrashing the album or anything, just would not want to see it. would be kool but idk :eyes:

It's a pretty good set for their alloted time. I would rather have Runes or Asator switched out for something, but it's whatever.

One more reason for us all to hate Trivium, the singer thinks that they are more important than Amon Amarth, Mastodon and Slayer.

Now we know who uses limewire.

Piece By Piece, Alter of Sacrifice, Criminally Insane and Postmortem are always overlooked because they are sandwiched between Angel of Death and Raining Blood.

You couldn't be further off the mark.

I would so much rather they played the whole of Seasons In The Abyss or South of Heaven. An album with a bit of variation. Reign In Blood is the same fast, short songs all the way through apart from Angel of Death and Raining Blood. This was largely exacerbated by giving Trivium the same 75-minute set as Slayer, so they had to race through all the songs with no pause or talk between them.

Stuff like 'Jesus Saves' and 'Criminally Insane' work well on, say, the Decade of Aggression album, because they're in with other, more varied, songs like 'South of Heaven' and 'Dead Skin Mask' (sorely missed last night).

Of course, the playing of RIB was very popular because 90% of Slayer fans subscribe to Fast Slayer = Good, Slow Slayer = Bad, and RIB is all Fast Slayer.

This was the first time I've seen Slayer, and I definitely want a regular set next time so they can change up the pace a bit.

As for their playing and sound: P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

I would love to see Reign in Blood in full one time. I have to agree with a few others, in that I would much rather prefer South of Heaven start-to-finish, though.

Oh, and as for Amon Amarth, I think that given their time slot they did the best they could, but to represent Twilight of the Thunder God, aside from the title track, they should have had "Guardians of Asgaard" or "Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags" instead of "Free Will Sacrifice".

I think they chose Free Will Sacrifice because it's about the banter the singer gives before they play it. but i agree, there are better songs on that record.

Different goons were giving out the download card to those giving out the free patch. So if you were lucky enough to pass one of each on your way out, you got both. I only got a patch. Didn't see one of the download card guys, but didn't really care anyway. The new Slayer album is going to be exactly the same unchallenging stuff all over again.
