Well I have had the chance to listen to this album about three times and I have to say I like it. As for the ones that dont I can understand it has its moments, my favorite song has to be Gematria (The Killing Name) with Snuff second. Is it there best album I dont personally think so but it is good. Its not Iowa for sure but its worth a listen.

ive been listening to this album a lot lately. I've been trying to like it. It hasn't been working. I can appreciate that Slipknot is mixing things up, trying new styles, trying to keep it fresh but it really didn't work for me. The song I enjoyed the most was Dead Memories it just connected.

I have to say i love this album. But slipknot said its there heaviest which i have to disagree on. I think there self titles "Slipknot" album was there heaviest and there best. Dont get me wrong AHIG has some amazing rifts and drumming in it but ill have to put it it third on there best cds.

1.slipknot
2.iowa
3.AHIG
4.Volume 3

i think this a great record. Slipknot's finest since their Self titled album.

I disagree with Gwar, I think Iowa was the heaviest album.

But as for AHIG, I think it's a great album. The heavy stuff (Gematria, This Cold Black, Title Track) is really feral and Corey's new growl style is perfect, and the "single" songs (Psychosocial, Sulfur, Vendetta) are really catchy. Hell, they even made another "trippy" song in the fantastic Gehenna.

One thing that's really divided opinion is the ballads. Dead Memories is good enough, but I really don't think Snuff fits on the album, Corey should have saved it for his solo record. I think 'Til we Die should have filled its place.

Overall Score- 8/10
as opposed to

Slipknot- 8/10
Iowa- 9/10
Subliminal Verses- 7/10

Iowa > Slipknot > All Hope is Gone > The Subliminal Verses

That't it in my opinion. The subliminal verses is good, I just hate Vermilion 2.

I'd probably tolerate it more if it came from My Chemical Romance or something, but the fact that these are the people that brought us Surfacing and Disasterpiece is just weird.

THE BEST SLIPKNOT ALBUM PERIOD.

.execute. 9.2
Gematria (Killing Name)...9.5
Sulfur...9.6
Psychosocial...9.7
Dead Memories...8.9
Vendetta...10.0 :rocker:
Butchers Hook...8.7
Gehenna...9.2
This Cold Black...9.0
Wherein Lies Continue...8.6
Snuff...10.0 :light:
All Hope Is Gone...9.9 :finger2:

Its an amazing album. Theres so many different aspects from all there other 3 albums. Gematria, This Cold Black and All Hope is gone sound a lot like IOWA and all the other ones except vendetta and psychosocial sound like vol 3. Vendetta and psychosocial sound like new Slipknot. I would definitley recommend this to anyone looking for a HEAVY, Dark, and chill album.
