I really like the Absence's Into the Pit, and Opeth's Remember Tomorrow, as well as Circle of Tyrants.

Edit: Also Children of Bodom's cover of No Commands is nice.

I find it to be considerably better, mainly because of Oliver Hartmann's godlike vocals.

Metallica- Whiskey In The Jar (Thin Lizzy)

I've always found that to be pretty damn bad myself. I think it's a great example of a song that could've used a modern take on it, I just think Metallica were NOT the people who should've done it. I'm really picky about Thin Lizzy-related covers in general though, mainly because of vocalists. I HATE it when flowery power metal singers with thick accents try to do Phil Lynott's vocals. Jorn on the other hand does a bitchin' cover of Cold Sweat.

Sodom covered Cold Sweat pretty good. But yea, Metallica needs to stop doing covers, especially sense nowadays like hafl their setlists consist of other peoples music.
