The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/29/AR2008022900804_2.html?sid=ST2008022902813) has a pretty good article on the extreme metal scene at the Jaxx in VA. Here's another one (http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-graham/2008/03/02/washington-post-satanic-rock-two-horns) that calls bullshit on it.

I live across the country from the Jaxx but still keep up on their calendar as yet another way of finding out what tours are hitting our shores.

"From the objective journalist’s point of view, all religions are equal. Or are they?"Yes :tp:

Well, that explains a lot.

This is an exceptionally poorly written opinion column. He's extremely non-committal to his stance, and cherry-picks quotes instead of offering his own analysis.

That place is a dump in the middle of a strip mall in a suburb of DC...still haven't figured out why they get all the shows. Not that I haven't schlepped down there for shows, just wondering.

By my experience, 'dump is often good for 'metal' venues. :D

I miss our local dump terribly...

Heh, not a huge fan of that response article. Tried to get an account there to rebut the comments, but they never sent me my password... But I know they wouldn't read past "I disagree..." anyway.

Dumps are awesome! I've had some of my favorite concert moments at the White Rabbit in San Antonio, which is tiny! When I saw Opeth there, they had to keep hitting the center light rack with a broom to turn it back on.
