Ozzfest, the long-running touring metal package, is rumored to be morphing into a two-day "destination festival" in Dallas. There has been no official word yet on what format Ozzfest will take or who will be on the bill.

I didn't know about this but a few friends confirmed the shitstorm that the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour created with Ozzfest. I definitely didn't expect this. Then again, Maiden is on my brain right now.

Anyone up for a trip to Dallas? :allan:

Going the Lollapalooza route, I see.

I don't think they can pull it off without a stellar line-up, which, given that most of the biggest, hottest bands are already committed to other things this summer, seems unlikely.

Hopefully they'll have one. Not many festivals worth seeing here...

I'd still like it to be a touring one.

Cool, now I wont even have to deal with the temptation of going. :D

I can think of other bands (Maiden & RUSH to name a couple) to see this year that are much better than anything that O$$fe$t could possibly come up with!:allan:

Already seeing Maiden twice. :horns:

And if the fest would be that close to me, I might check it out if there's some decent bands.

Isn't this exactly what it started out as? Someone's losing ground here. Looks like the giant turd of karma has finally made its way onto Sharon's chest.

Karmic Retribution, if you ask me.

Funny how Sharon started the thing by bitching about Lollapalooza, it being about newer bands and money. The circle is complete.
If the lineup is anything like one of the good European festivals, I'm there.
Lets hope this at least leaves room for a good SotU tour this year.

I don't think it's surprising that after 10 years it would start losing steam. You can't just keep something like that going forever. I really enjoyed the 2004 and 2005 line-ups though, I gotta say :D
