Saw it last night. It was great, the monster ruled, and the way it was shot was awesome. Thumbs up all around.

The only thing keeping me from seeing this is that the director got the idea after seeing King Kong and Godzilla dolls at a store in Japan.

WTF does that have to do with anything? :tp:

I'm trying to avoid spoilers but i gotta ask, are the rumors about the monster being cthulu true, cause that would kick major ass

No, it's not Cthulu. It's a totally new creature.

Dude, if they made a movie with Cthulhu, I would be the first in line to see it.

I dont know. It just seems like, even though there hasnt been one in many years, there are already a good number of giant monster movies out there. And if he got the inspiration from Godzilla and King Kong, I think it would be difficult to move away from the typical giant-monster-ravages-big-city format. I havent seen it, so he may have done a nice job.

This is totally different from any other monster movie, trust me. There's no long scenes of generals trying to figure out how to stop it or anything like that. It's all "found footage" taken from the camera of an ordinary person who was there. You only know as much as the characters do, and once the action starts it doesn't let up. Believe me, it's worth seeing.

Eh. It was funny. It was entertaining, but I liked Superbad more.

given the movie is filmed from sort of a first person point of view, wouldnt the experience be better seeing it on the big screen? I remember the ending scene to Doom was alot cooler being seen in theaters than on my tv.

True, but I am not gonna go out and waste 8 or more bucks to get a theater experience from a movie that almost everyone I talked to said was gar-bitch.

Quite frankly, anyone who walks out of this movie or otherwise says it blows is an idiot, straight up. They must have been expecting a Godzilla movie or something.

I can't take credit for it, James Rolfe said it in an Angry Video Game Nerd review.
